FINDUSER
+++++++++
Version 1.01 Compiled 9/02/92
a public domain Wildcat! SysOps' utility by Michael Conley.
(designed for use with Wildcat! 3.x data files)
[ requires BRUN40.EXE in the path ]
What it does:
-------------
FINDUSER will search your ALLUSERS.DAT file for any user records where
the string you specify matches any of a group of selected data fields.
If a match is found, you may continue to search the remaining records,
or start a new search.
Setting up:
-----------
No configuration is required. FINDUSER will search your DOS PATH for
MAKEWILD.DAT, then locate your ALLUSERS.DAT within the directory specified
in MAKEWILD.
Running the program:
--------------------
FINDUSER will ask you to specify a string of characters to match. This is
a STRING SEARCH function ... wildcards are not supported ... so enter ONLY
a string of characters you want to match EXACTLY.
FINDUSER will next present a list of searchable fields ... you may scroll
through the list with the arrow keys ... and "TAG" any fields you want to
search for the string by touching the [SPACE] bar. The [SPACE] bar acts
as a toggle ... touch it again, the the field will be de-selected. Press
[ENTER] when you're through selecting fields, and the search will begin.
Each user record is displayed in two fields, much like the display format
of the Wildcat! SysOp User screen. After both fields have been shown, you
may choose to [C]ontinue the search, start a [N]ew search, or e[X]it from
FINDUSER.
PROBLEMS, SUGGESTIONS:
======================
FINDUSER is public domain. I don't seek or accept any donations for this or
any of my other Wildcat! utility programs, including TODAYBBS, FLOP, MSTAT,
FSTAT, and others.
I welcome suggestions, and will try to help (no guarantees) if there are
problems.
You may contact me at The Charlatan's Cabin BBS (213) 654-7337. Mention
your Wildcat! registration number in the comment and you'll be upgraded to
membership without the usually required registration by mail.
You may also leave a message via CompuServe (70250,220).
Please, NO VOICE CALLS. This isn't meant to be unfriendly, but with
the price of public domain software these days ... I just can't afford
to be "on call." I WILL respond to your questions via my BBS or CompuServe,
or via the Mustang Software registered SysOp BBS.
